it's huge! we refer to it as their "palace". as you may have noticed, their "castle" is now out in the cat enclosure. i was against getting them something so expensive and fancy since we just bought the enclosure, but the other human insisted that we should. they get spoiled by both of us humans!

ĝi estas giganta! ni nomas ĝin ilia "palaco". eble vi jam ĉi tion rimarkis, sed ilia "kastelo" nun troviĝas en la kat-fermitejo. mi ne volas aĉeti ion tiel multekosta kaj pompa ĉar ni ĵus aĉetis la fermitejon, sed la alia homo insistis, ke ni ĝin aĉetu. ambaŭ ni homoj trodorlotegadas ilin!

people have offhandedly commented about our cats being spoiled and i've always disagreed saying that we just treat them like they should be treated. however. i'm afraid that now i have to agree with those people... Fae and Iggy ARE spoiled. if you haven't thought Fae & Iggy spoiled, you will after reading these next couple of posts!

homoj hazarde rimarkas, ke ni trodorlotas niajn katojn kaj ĉiam mi malkonsentante diras, ke ni simple traktas ilin kiel oni traktu katojn. tamen. bedaŭrinde nun mi devas konsenti al tiuj homoj... ni JA trodorlotas Fae kaj Iggy. se vi ankoraŭ ne opinias, ke ni trodorlotas Fae k Iggy, vi ja tiel opinios post legi la sekvajn kelkajn blogaĵojn!

a week+ ago we bought and assembled an outdoor cat enclosure made locally by AusKatz. we had been wanting to get an enclosure for a while, especially after seeing how Fae & Iggy liked being outdoors during our trip to Singapore, but they were/are expensive + we live in an apartment with only a balcony. we had decided to hold off on getting one, but when things started getting messy between us and the real estate agency (long story) we decided to go ahead and get one as maybe it would help solve part of the problem.

antaŭ unu+ semajno ni aĉetis kaj kunigis eksteran fermitejo(?) por katoj, kiu estis farita de la loka firmo AusKatz. ni delonge deziras aĉeti fermitejon, precipe post ni vidis kiel multe Fae k Iggy ŝatis esti ekstere dum nia vojaĝo al Singapuro. tamen, fermitejoj estas multekostaj + ni loĝas en apartamento, kiu havas nur balkonon, do ni decidis atendi por ĝin aĉeti. malgraŭ tio, lastatempe ni decidis ke eble ni ja fermitejon aĉetu ĉar lastatempe okazis iom da dramo inter ni kaj la administrantoj de nia apartamento. ni pensis, ke eble fermitejo povus solvi almenaŭ unu parton de la problemo. 

it took a little time for them to warm up to the enclosure... especially for Fae who doesn't seem to respond well to being in unfamiliar places. however, after we moved their castle into the enclosure so that there would be something familiar and a place to hide, she quickly took to liking it. :)

bezonis iom da tempo por ili alkutimiĝu al la fermitejo..... precipe por Fae, kiu verŝajne ne facile alkutimiĝas al nekontataj lokoj. tamen, kiam ni movis ilian kastelon en la fermitejon por ke ili havu ion konatan kaj ejon por sin kaŝi, Fae rapide alkutimiĝis kaj ekŝatis ĝin. :)

the enclosure was a bit tricky to put together (definitely need 2 people), but it's very well designed. it even has a built-in hammock and it wasn't as expensive as most other enclosures.

estis iomete malfacile kunigi la fermitejon (certe 2 homoj estas necesaj), sed ĝi estas ege bone dizajnita. ĝi eĉ inkluzas hamakon kaj ĝi ne estis tiel multekosta kiel aliaj fermitejoj.

eventually Fae was so happy that she started doing cat yoga on the castle! she does cat yoga when she's happy. :))	post iom da tempo Fae tiel feliĉiĝis, ke ŝi faris kat-jogon sur la kastelo! ŝi kat-jogon faras kiam ŝi estas feliĉa. :))
this morning they spent almost 3hrs outside with seemingly no desire to come inside. definitely more outdoor photos to come in the future. :)	ĉi matene ili pasis preskaŭ 3 horojn ekstere kaj verŝajne tute ne deziris veni en la apartamenton. sendube pli da fotoj eksteraj estos blogitaj estontece. :)

Americana Kitty

happy belated 4th of July to all the Americans out there! i hope you all enjoyed it. :) it's really hard to celebrate the 4th abroad... :( but with it being the 4th (or rather 5th) of July and all, i figured i'd post about Americana Kitty!

feliĉan malfruan 4an de julio al ĉiuj usonanoj! mi esperas, ke vi ĝuis ĝin. :) estas tre malfacile festi la tagon eksterlande... :( sed mi decidis, ke mi blogos pri "Americana Kitty" ("Usoneca Katĉjo") okaze de la 4a (aŭ pli ĝuste 5a) de julio!

Americana Kitty is a plushie that i made on the same day that i made Iggy's coat. more details about the making of AK can be found at my livejournal.

Americana Kitty estas pupo, kiun mi faris samtage kiel la mantelo de Iggy. plu da informo pri la farado de AK troviĝas ĉe mia livejournal.

Iggy likes to pretend that he's all "buddy buddy" with AK, but then he's all claws and teeth! i keep trying to tell him that AK is not a toy, but nooooooo...... everything is a toy to Iggy.

plaĉas al Iggy ŝajnigi, ke li estas la plej bona amiko de AK, sed post tio li subite mordadas kaj gratadas! mi provadas klarigi al Iggy, ke AK ne estas ludilo, sed neeeeeeeeee...... al Iggy ĉio estas ludilo.

Fae is generally (but not always) nicer to AK. she even let AK feel her fur. :) if you ask me, though, i think AK might have been a little jealous.... maybe i should have given AK a nice, soft coat. :p

ĝenerale (sed ne ĉiam) Fae estas pli afabla al AK. ŝi eĉ permesis, ke AK palpi ŝian felon. :) sed mi opinias, ke eble AK estis iome ĵaluza.... eble estus pli bone, se mi uzis molan felon por fari AK. :p

now i'm considering trying to make a toy or two for them. :) nothing fancy, maybe felt mice or something.... i also have a coat planned for Fae, but alas! so much to make, so little time!

nun mi pensas pri fari ludilojn por ili. :) nenion malsimplan, eble musojn el felto aŭ ion similan..... mi ankaŭ intencas fari mantelon por Fae, sed ve! multe da farindaĵoj kaj tro malmulte da tempo!

shopping, yay! / aĉetado, jej!

today we did a bit of shopping, especially for Iggy. among other things, we bought him a carrier, food dish and food mat that match Fae's. note that the only reason why we got blue for most of it was because most of the time the only color options were pink & blue. stereotypical!

hodiaŭ ni aĉetis kelkajn aĵojn, ĉefe por Iggy. krom aliaĵojn, ni aĉetis portilon, bovlon kaj manĝ-maton, kiuj similas al tiuj de Fae. notu, ke la nura kialo, kiu igas ke ni aĉetu plejparte bluajn aĵoj estas, ke ofte la nuraj opcioj estas rozkoloro kaj bluo. kiel stereotipe!

we got Fae a new collar because we saw this one and it screamed her name! we think it looks awesome on her. :))

ni aĉetis novan kolrimenon por Fae ĉar ni vidis ĉi tiun kaj ĝi aspektis perfektEGa por ŝi! ni opinias, ke ĝi aspektas belega sur ŝi. :))

we got Iggy a matching one, although i wish it had come in red (again with the pink & blue!).

we also got this one because it seemed pretty "Iggy". which of Iggy's new collars do you like best? :) he also has a tag on order.

the other big purchase of the day was a new tunnel! since Iggy and Fae love the little tunnel that we already have so much, we decided that they'd probably appreciate a longer one.

la alia granda aĉeto de hodiaŭ estas nova tunelo! ĉar Iggy kaj Fae amas la malgrandan tunelon, kiun ni jam havas, ni decidis, ke ili verŝajne amegus pli longan tunelon.

the new tunnel can even be attached to the older shorter tunnel to make a super long tunnel. :)

thus far it's been a bit hit! it's so much of a hit that we'll definitely have to put it up every night if we want to get any sleep!

a very special coat / tre speciala mantelo

today Fae has a very special coat to model for you all! it was made by her Aussie grandma. :)

hodiaŭ Fae havas tre specialan mantelon por modeligi por vi ĉiuj! ĝi estis farita de ŝia Aŭstralana avino. :)

it's a tailored fit! / ĝi estas fasonita adaptaĵo!

though it looks tight, Fae can move freely. / malgraŭ tio, ke ĝi aspektas strika, Fae povas libere movi.

tailored to a cat's long arched back. / taŭga por la longa arkita dorso de kato.

easily put on and taken off two velcro fasteners. / facile vestigebla kaj malvestigebla per du lapfermiloj.

although he is a bit clothing-challenged at the moment, maybe one day Iggy can sport some nice fashions himself. :)

p.s. just to let everyone know, we secured all of the blind cords immediately after the accident, so hopefully there will be no more in the future.

work, sleep and a new obsession (and Blogger!) have gotten in the way of blogging this week... this entry is a follow-up to last friday's entry about a dog coat that didn't fit.i took the coat back and the store wouldn't allow a refund, only an exchange. the store was rather small and their coat selection meager, so i really wasn't left with a lot of options. there wasn't anything else that they had that i thought Fae could use. :( eventually i settled on the one coat that was in Fae's size and was likely to fit: a red fleece coat with velcro straps and an attached leopard-print scarf.

ĉi-semajne laboro, dormo kaj nova obsedo (kaj Blogger!) ĝenis mian blogadon... ĉi tiu blogaĵo sekvas la aferon, pri kiu mi blogis la pasintan vendredon (pri mantelo por hundoj, kiu tro striktis por Fae). mi portis la mantelon al la vendejo por redoni la mantelon al ĝi, sed ĝi ne redonus al mi mian monon; mi nur rajtis interŝanĝi la mantelon por iu alia vestaĵo. la vendejo estis malgranda kaj ĝiaj vestaĵoj estis malmultaj, do mi ne havis multe da opcioj. ĝi ne havis ion alian krom vestaĵoj, kiun miaopinie Fae bezonis. :( fine mi decidis aĉeti la nuran vestaĵon, kiun Fae povus verŝajne surhavi komforte: ruĝan mantelon el "fleece" kun lapfermilaj rimenoj kaj alfiksita leopardeca koltuko.

while the coat isn't especially nice looking, Fae seems to really like it. it's SUPER easy to put on & take off even if she's sitting and since it's fleece it provides instant warmth. with the knit sweater that i put on her previously she almost immediately started licking and scratching at it, but she does no such thing with this coat. in fact, she seems to never be in any hurry to get out of it and on two occasions she's even pawed at it asking for it! TAKE THAT people who think cats and clothes don't work! :P now she wears it every morning and night when it's coldest. :)

malgraŭ tio, ke mi opinias, ke la mantelo ne tre belas, ĝi verŝajne plaĉegas al Fae. ĝi estas EGE facilebe surhavigita kaj malsurhavigita eĉ kiam Fae sidas kaj ĝi estas farita el "fleece", do ĝi tuj varmigas Fae-n. kiam mi surhavigis trikitan puloveron sur Fae-n preskaŭ tuj ŝi eklekis kaj ekgratis ĝin, sed tion ŝi ne faris ĉi-foje. fakte, verŝajne plaĉas al ŝi surhavi ĝin longtempe kaj dufoje ŝi eĉ petis al mi vesti sin per ĝi (rigardante min ŝi gratadis ĝin)! JEN PRUVO, ke ja plaĉas al iuj katoj vestaĵoj! :P nun ŝi ĝin surhavas ĉiumatene kaj ĉiunokte pro tiam estas la plej malvarme. :)

now that i know this kind of coat really works for Fae, i'm keeping my eyes peeled for them. thanks to Cat-from-Sydney's suggestion, i've found a coat at Posh Pets that i like. maybe in the (not immediate) future i'll get it for Fae. :)

nun mi scias, ke ĉi tia mantelo estas tre bona por Fae, do mi atente rigardas ĉion/ĉie por tiaj manteloj. dank' al sugesto de Cat-from-Sydney, mi trovis mantelon ĉe Posh Pets, kiu plaĉas al mi. eble (ne tro proksima-)estontece mi ĝin aĉetos por Fae. :)

ESTAS TRO STRIKTA MALVESTIGI NUN!

it's officially fall here in Australia and the weather has gotten cooler. in response, petstores have started filling their stores with dog clothes (AND NO CAT CLOTHES DAMN DARN THEM)... what is a cat owner who likes pet fashion and who is concerned about their cat's warmth suppose to do?? whatever the answer to that question may be, i've given into temptation and have bought a dog coat (or two!) for Fae to try. the first coat, which i bought some time ago but haven't posted about yet, fit fine. however, tonight i bought another one and it doesn't it at all. it doesn't fit in the chest area, front legs & neck-- poor Fae could barely walk.

Aŭstralie la sezono oficiale fariĝis aŭtuno kaj la vetero fariĝis pli malvarma. laŭ tio, dombest-vendejoj plenigas siajn vendejoj per vestaĵoj por hundoj (KAJ NE POR KATOJ, FEK VE).... kion faru posedanto de kato, al kiu plaĉas dombesta modo kaj kiu maltrankviliĝas pri la varmeco de sia kato?? malgraŭ la respondo al tiu demando, mi falis en tenton kaj aĉetis unu (aŭ du!) hund-jakojn por Fae. la unuan jakon (kiun mi delonge aĉetis sed ankoraŭ ne menciis ĉi tie) Fae povas bone surhavi. tamen, ĉi-nokte mi aĉetis duan kaj Fae tute ne povas ĝin surhavi bone. ĝi estas ege tro strikta ĉe la brusto, antaŭaj kruroj kaj kolo-- kompatinda Fae povis apenaŭ paŝi.

LESSON LEARNED: cats are not built like dogs. do not expect dog clothes to fit a cat.

LERNITA LECIONO: katoj ne havas korpon saman kiel hundoj. ne antaŭpensu, ke vestaĵoj por hundoj taŭgos por katoj.

....BUT. having successfully gotten the coat on Fae i couldn't NOT take photos of her in it! even though it was really mean to do so. i tried to be as quick as possible and thus didn't even take the time to correct the collar.

....SED. ĉar mi jam sukcese surhavigis la jakon sur Fae-n, mi ne povis NE foti Fae-n kun la jako! malgraŭ tio, ke tio estus tre malafabla. mi klopodis foti ŝin rapidege kaj pro tio mi eĉ ne ĝustigis la kolumon.

oh, and i also FINALLY got Fae new treats to replace the ones that we suspect may be triggering her allergy. we suspect (HOPE) that her allergy is related to seafood and it was hard to find treats that had no form of seafood in them. i finally found dried liver treats. :)

ho, kaj mi FINFINE aĉetis novan krommanĝaĵon por Fae por anstataŭigi la antaŭajn, kiuj eble igas ŝiajn alergiojn. ni suspektas (ESPERAS), ke ŝia alergio rilatas al marfrukto kaj estas tre malfacile trovi krommanĝaĵon sen ia ajn marfruktaĵo. finfine mi trovis krommanĝaĵon el sekigita hepataĵo. :)

fashionable Fae / laŭmoda Fae

 it's been chilly the past couple of days so Fae got to try out one of her new sweaters! it fit perfectly.

la antaŭaj kelkaj tagoj estis iom malvarmaj, do Fae povis prov-surhavi unu el ŝiaj novaj puloveroj! ĝi perfekte vestis ŝin. 

the hardest thing was getting it over her head (best done w/ 2 people!), which she didn't like of course, but once that was done buttoning her up wasn't hard (treats help).

la plej malfacila afero estis igi, ke ŝia kapo iru tra la kolumo (2 homojn oni bezonas!). tion ŝi ne ŝatis, kompreneble. sed post tio, butonumi la puloveron estis facila (manĝaĵetoj helpas).

I think she looks great in her sweater, even if it isn't her usual pink. :) it doesn't inhibit her movement at all.

mi opinias, ke ŝi bonega aspektas en la pulovero, eĉ se ĝi ne estas la kutima rozkoloro. :) ĝi tute ne ĝenas ŝian movadon.

it does, however, inhibit something else...

Fae is a bit of a clean freak and almost immediately she became annoyed with not being able to clean herself everywhere. a major problem. i'm sure you can imagine what a cat's tongue does to a knit sweater. :( *sigh*

Fae estas iom purigema kaj preskaŭ tuj ŝi ĉagreniĝis pro ŝi ne povis sin purigi ĉie. grava problemo. mi sertas, ke vi povas imagi, kion la lango de kato faras al trikita pulovero. :( *suspiras*

presents from Disco / donacoj de Disco

i'm really late in posting this and i hope that Disco will forgive me. :'( almost a month ago Fae received these two beautiful collars from Disco at Curlz and Swirlz. THANKS DISCO!! <333 i really love them both, but the pink one is my fav. i've always thought pink and purple suited Fae best, but now even the other human agrees. :) i really hate to do it (cutting something so pretty seems wrong!) but i need to cut the excess on the ends off i think, because Fae loves to chew on it. ^^;

mi estas ege malfrua pri afiŝi ĉi tion kaj mi esperas, ke Disco pardonos min. :'( antaŭ preskaŭ unu monato Fae ricevis ĉi tiujn belegajn kolrimenojn de Disco ĉe Curlz and Swirlz. DANKON, DISCO!! <333 ambaŭ kolrimenoj tre plaĉas al mi, sed mi plej amas la rozkoloran. ĉiam mi opinias, ke rozkoloro kaj purpuro estas la plej bonaj koloroj por Fae, sed nun eĉ la alia homo same opinias. :) tre ne plaĉas al mi ĉi tion fari (ĉar por mi tranĉi ion belan ŝajnas malbona!), sed mi pensas, ke mi fortranĉu la finaĵon de la kolrimenoj ĉar Fae tro ŝatas mordi ĝin. ^^;

relaxing Monday / trankviliĝa lundo

it was nice spending time out on the balcony with Fae today. for some reason she wanted to go outside a lot more than usual...... me and the other human have been toying around with the idea of getting Fae an outdoor enclosure or a stroller. if we got her an enclosure it would have to be small because our balcony isn't very wide and even a small one would be expensive. at the moment we're leaning more towards getting a stroller, but really we're still just toying around with the idea. has anyone else had good experiences with enclosures/strollers? :)

hodiaŭ estis tre agrable forpasi iom da tempo kun Fae sur la balkono. iale ŝi volis iri eksteren pli ofte kaj longe ol kutime....... mi kaj la alia homo pensetas pri aĉeti eksteran kat-ludejon aŭ katĉaron (simile ol beboĉaro). se ni aĉetus ludejon, ĝi devus esti mallarĝa ĉar la balkono estas mallarĝa kaj eĉ mallarĝa ludejo estus multkosta. nuntempe pli plaĉas al ni katĉaro ol ekstera ludejo, sed ni ankoraŭ nur pensETas pri aĉeti tiujn aĵojn. ĉu iuj el vi havas sperton kun eksteraj kat-ludejoj/katoĉaroj? :)

Fae seems to love her new chicken jerky treats. :) zzzz, Sundays....

finally an update! / finfine ĝisdatigo!

for the past week i've barely updated this blog due to being caught up in my knitting projects. :( i finished my first two projects, a cowl and fingerless gloves! this week i'm going to start knitting a matching scarf for the gloves, but i'll try to not put off blogging!on the other hand, i like to think that me and Fae had some nice bonding time over the past week with my cameras in her face less. 8)

la pastinan semajnon mi apenaŭ ĝisdatigis ĉi tiun blogon ĉar mi freneziĝis pri miaj projektoj pri trikado. :( mi fintrikis miajn unuajn du projektojn: "kaŭl"on (simile al koltuko) kaj gantojn sen fingrokovraĵoj! ĉi-semajne mi ektrikos koltukon en simila stilo al la gantoj, sed mi provos daŭre blogi! aliaflanke, mi kredas, ke mi kaj Fae eĉ pli amikiĝis dank' al la manko de miaj fotiloj la pasintan semajnon. 8)

last week Fae's second new collar came, this one was by PeaKazzosEmporium. i really like it, but sadly we've had to take it off after a couple of days because it was rubbing Fae's neck too much taking off the fragile fur there and leaving a sore. :( maybe i can come up with a lining for it or something....

la pasintan semajnon la dua nova kolrimeno de Fae alvenis, ĉi tiu kolrimeno estis farita de PeaKazzosEmporium. ĝi tre plaĉas al mi, tamen ĝi tro frotis ŝian kolon kaj forigis ŝian dilikan kol-pelton kaj vundis ŝian haŭton. :( eble mi povos krei ion por meti inter ŝia kolo kaj la kolrimeno....

anyway, everything's going alright in Princess Fae's (yes, she is a Princess now) apartment. occasionally she tries to fight the neighbor's cats through the front door, but aside from that things are peachy!

ĉiuokaze, ĉio bonas ĉe la apartamento de Reĝidino Fae (jes, ekde nun ŝi estas Reĝidino). fojfoje ŝi provas ataki la najbarajn katojn tra la enireja pordo, sed krom tio ĉio bonegas!
