"Princess" Fae / "Reĝigina" Fae

two years ago today we brought one of the greatest cats in the world home with us. although today is her special day, i haven't come to rehash her adoption story yet again. if you'd like to hear it, you can find it here (as well as last year's post here). this year i want to tell you all a bit of never-before posted information on Fae's kittens! she had 5 of them with her when she was brought to the RSPCA and since i'm fortunate enough to volunteer at the RSPCA, i have access to Fae's records. it wasn't until relatively recently, however, that i went digging around for the records on her kittens and this is what i found.

antaŭ du jaroj de hodiaŭ ni kunportis hejme kun ni unu el la plej bonegaj katoj tutmonde. malgraŭ tio, ke hodiaŭ estas speciala tago por ŝi, mi ne ree rakontos al vi pri ŝia adopto. se vi scivolas pri ĝi, ŝia rakonto troviĝas ĉi tie (kaj tio de la pasinta jaro estas ĉi tie). ĉi-jare mi volas sciigi vin pri neniam antaŭe afiŝita informo pri la katidoj de Fae! ŝi havis 5 katidojn kun ŝi kiam ŝi estis portita al la RSPCA kaj ĉar mi bonŝance volontuladas ĉe la RSPCA, mi povas atingi la rikordojn de Fae. tamen, nur lastatempe mi malkovris la rikordojn de ŝiaj katidoj. jen tio, kion mi trovis.

we live in a townhouse that faces South and that is attached to another townhouse on the East. on the West side of the house there are only TWO windows (excluding ones the cats have no access to). VERY LITTLE direct sunlight comes into our house.

wow.... Blogger has completely changed! i can't seem to keep up with anything anymore...

Fae is doing well. :) but she has put on a bit of weight! she's kinda sorta on a "diet" now. as the days are getting colder, she and Iggy seek out all the warmth they can get.

Fae bone fartas. :) sed ŝi iome pli peziĝis! nun ŝi iomete "dietas". lastatempe la tagoj pli kaj pli malvarmiĝas kaj ŝi kaj Iggy klopodas malkovri ĉiun ajn varmejon.

Iggy is doing alright except his skin allergy has been acting up again. :( he is back on cortisone and we are hopefully about to try out a food trial to completely eliminate the possibility of a food allergy. :/ otherwise he is his normal, ever-high-strung and anxious self.

Iggy bone fartas krom tio, ke lia haŭt-alergio revenis. :( li denove manĝas la kuracilon "cortisone" kaj espereble baldaŭ ni provos malkovri ĉu lia alergio vere ne rilatas al manĝaĵo per speciala dieto. :/ krom tio li estas ege anksia kaj energiplena kiel kutime.

sigh, i really need to redo/redesign life with Fae and post more. at least Blogger's new look should help me visit blogs more. :) i hope all of you out there are well! apologies for my/our silence.

suspiro, vere mi refaru/redizajnu life with Fae kaj pli ofte ĝin ĝisdatigu. almenaŭ la nova aspekto de Blogger verŝajne helpos min viziti pli facile aliajn blogojn. :) mi esperas, ke vi ĉiuj bone fartas! pardonon pro mi/nia silenco.

one year ago today we adopted Fae from the Dakabin RSPCA shelter. i won't recount her adoption story, it can be found here, but i'll never forget that day. it was the day that all of our lives changed for the better. :) i wish i had a fancier way to celebrate today, but as of late i suck at blogging. so instead, i'll just post some of the first photos of Fae that haven't been posted already. i think you'll agree that she has changed/grown a lot since then. :)

antaŭ unu jaro ĝis hodiaŭ ni adoptis Fae de la bestŝirmejo de la RSPCA ĉe Dakabin. mi ne rakontos pri la tago ĉar la rakonto troviĝas ĉi tie (angle), sed mi neniam forgesos tiun tago. ĝi estis tago, kiam niaj vivoj pliboniĝis. :) mi volas fari pli bonan festan blogaĵon por festi hodiaŭ, sed lastatempe mi aĉe blogas... do, anstataŭe mi afiŝos kelkajn unuajn fotojn de Fae, kiujn mi ankoraŭ ne afiŝis. mi kredas, ke ankaŭ vi rimarkos kiel multe Fae ŝanĝiĝis/plikreskis ĝis tiam. :)

tonight Fae (and Iggy) gets a special tuna & salmon dinner! and on a side note, Iggy has been with us for almost exactly 6 months now. :)

ĉi-nokte Fae (kaj Iggy) ricevos specialan vespermanĝaĵon-- tinusaĵon kaj salmaĵon! parenteze, nun Iggy loĝas kun ni dum preskaŭ ekzakte 6 monatoj. :)

Devons have somewhat unique bellehs and some people think that they're "strange" or "ugly". i am here to tell you why i think Devon bellehs are BEAUTIFUL and AWESOME!

Devonoj havas iomete unikajn ventojn kaj iuj homoj opinias ke ili estas "strangaj" aŭ "malbelaj". nu, nun mi klarigos al vi, kial mi opinias, ke la ventroj de Devonoj estas BELAJ kaj BONEGAJ!

Devons have a lot of extra skin, especially on their bellehs. when they sit the bottom of their bellehs look kind of.... pouch-like? i find this super cute! :3

Devonoj havas multe da ekstra haŭto, precipe sur siaj ventoj. kiam ili sidas, la subaĵo de siaj ventoj aspektas iome kiel... kropo? mi opinias, ke tio estas beleta! :))

there's also extra skin around their chest. all of this extra skin serves a purpose and is not always "extra"!

ankaŭ estas ekstra haŭto sur siaj brustoj. kialo ekzistas por ĉiom da tiu ekstra haŭto kaj ne tiam ĝi estas "ekstra"!

rimarku, ke la brusto de Iggy nun estas strikta! kaj lia malstriktega ventro....

....it all disappears! all of that "extra" skin makes for SUPER stretchiness and SUPER agility! of course, all cats are Masters of streching and agility, but i think Devons are particularly well suited for it. i've said it before and i'll say it again, Devons are the Greyhounds of the Catworld!

spoiled rotten #1 / trodorlotegado #1

people have offhandedly commented about our cats being spoiled and i've always disagreed saying that we just treat them like they should be treated. however. i'm afraid that now i have to agree with those people... Fae and Iggy ARE spoiled. if you haven't thought Fae & Iggy spoiled, you will after reading these next couple of posts!

a week+ ago we bought and assembled an outdoor cat enclosure made locally by AusKatz. we had been wanting to get an enclosure for a while, especially after seeing how Fae & Iggy liked being outdoors during our trip to Singapore, but they were/are expensive + we live in an apartment with only a balcony. we had decided to hold off on getting one, but when things started getting messy between us and the real estate agency (long story) we decided to go ahead and get one as maybe it would help solve part of the problem.

antaŭ unu+ semajno ni aĉetis kaj kunigis eksteran fermitejo(?) por katoj, kiu estis farita de la loka firmo AusKatz. ni delonge deziras aĉeti fermitejon, precipe post ni vidis kiel multe Fae k Iggy ŝatis esti ekstere dum nia vojaĝo al Singapuro. tamen, fermitejoj estas multekostaj + ni loĝas en apartamento, kiu havas nur balkonon, do ni decidis atendi por ĝin aĉeti. malgraŭ tio, lastatempe ni decidis ke eble ni ja fermitejon aĉetu ĉar lastatempe okazis iom da dramo inter ni kaj la administrantoj de nia apartamento. ni pensis, ke eble fermitejo povus solvi almenaŭ unu parton de la problemo. 

it took a little time for them to warm up to the enclosure... especially for Fae who doesn't seem to respond well to being in unfamiliar places. however, after we moved their castle into the enclosure so that there would be something familiar and a place to hide, she quickly took to liking it. :)

bezonis iom da tempo por ili alkutimiĝu al la fermitejo..... precipe por Fae, kiu verŝajne ne facile alkutimiĝas al nekontataj lokoj. tamen, kiam ni movis ilian kastelon en la fermitejon por ke ili havu ion konatan kaj ejon por sin kaŝi, Fae rapide alkutimiĝis kaj ekŝatis ĝin. :)

the enclosure was a bit tricky to put together (definitely need 2 people), but it's very well designed. it even has a built-in hammock and it wasn't as expensive as most other enclosures.

estis iomete malfacile kunigi la fermitejon (certe 2 homoj estas necesaj), sed ĝi estas ege bone dizajnita. ĝi eĉ inkluzas hamakon kaj ĝi ne estis tiel multekosta kiel aliaj fermitejoj.

eventually Fae was so happy that she started doing cat yoga on the castle! she does cat yoga when she's happy. :))	post iom da tempo Fae tiel feliĉiĝis, ke ŝi faris kat-jogon sur la kastelo! ŝi kat-jogon faras kiam ŝi estas feliĉa. :))
this morning they spent almost 3hrs outside with seemingly no desire to come inside. definitely more outdoor photos to come in the future. :)	ĉi matene ili pasis preskaŭ 3 horojn ekstere kaj verŝajne tute ne deziris veni en la apartamenton. sendube pli da fotoj eksteraj estos blogitaj estontece. :)

i don't have photos of Fae or Iggy as kittens, sadly. i stumbled upon these photos on Flickr months ago and was amazed at how much the kitten resembled Fae. :) i wonder what Fae and Iggy were like as kittens.... no doubt they were little terrors! i find it hard to even imagine them as kittens because they're STILL very kitten like now, so imagine how much worse more of a handful they would have been back then!

bedaŭrinde mi he havas fotojn pri aŭ Fae aŭ Iggy de kiam ili estis katidoj. antaŭ kelkaj monatoj mi hazarde trovis ĉi tiujn fotojn ĉe Flickr kaj mi miris pri kiel simila la katido estas al Fae. :) mi scivolas, kiel estis Fae kaj Iggy kiam ili estis katidoj.... sendube ili estis teruraj! estas malfacile por mi imagi ilin kiel katidoj ĉar ili ANKORAŬ nun kondutas kvazaŭ ili estas katidoj, do imagu kiom multoble pli malbona malfacile prizogeblaj ili devis esti tiam!

hmmm.... maybe Iggy looked like this as a kitten. ;)

a few days ago i was awarded "The Irresistiibly Sweet Blog Award" by my friend Bryan at Bryan's Cats! if you don't already know his blog, it's about taking care of his 5 cats as well as the cats in his neighborhood. it's amazing how one person can take care of so many cats and the blog is a very interesting read. if you haven't already, please check it out. :)

as part of the award, i'll share 7 (possibly) unknown facts + random photos with you! i will be focusing on Iggy and Iggy + Fae facts since not a lot has been shared about Iggy yet. also, i'm suppose to pass this award on to 15 people but i think 15 is an insane number, especially since i still don't know many people. i will instead pass it on to 5 (sorry!).

and they proceed to run around the apartment like Looney Tunes' Coyote (Fae) & Road Runner (Iggy).
