wow.... Blogger has completely changed! i can't seem to keep up with anything anymore...

Fae is doing well. :) but she has put on a bit of weight! she's kinda sorta on a "diet" now. as the days are getting colder, she and Iggy seek out all the warmth they can get.

Fae bone fartas. :) sed ŝi iome pli peziĝis! nun ŝi iomete "dietas". lastatempe la tagoj pli kaj pli malvarmiĝas kaj ŝi kaj Iggy klopodas malkovri ĉiun ajn varmejon.

Iggy is doing alright except his skin allergy has been acting up again. :( he is back on cortisone and we are hopefully about to try out a food trial to completely eliminate the possibility of a food allergy. :/ otherwise he is his normal, ever-high-strung and anxious self.

Iggy bone fartas krom tio, ke lia haŭt-alergio revenis. :( li denove manĝas la kuracilon "cortisone" kaj espereble baldaŭ ni provos malkovri ĉu lia alergio vere ne rilatas al manĝaĵo per speciala dieto. :/ krom tio li estas ege anksia kaj energiplena kiel kutime.

sigh, i really need to redo/redesign life with Fae and post more. at least Blogger's new look should help me visit blogs more. :) i hope all of you out there are well! apologies for my/our silence.

thank you everyone for your advice, thoughts and well wishes! Iggy took the prescribed medicine for 5 days, as recommended, and now seems to be back to himself with no more blood in his urine. amazing. i still can't believe that this may have been stress-related, especially since the vet connected it with dry food which they never eat (although their treats are dry).... but either way, i'm just glad that Iggy seems to be ok. :) hopefully this wont happen again...!

Iggy manĝis la kuracilon dum 5 tagoj laŭ la instrukcioj de la kuracisto kaj nun li verŝajne pli bone fartas kaj ne plu estas sango en la urino. mirinde. mi ankoraŭ ne povas kredi, ke la afero estis pro streĉo, precipe ĉar la kuracisto ligis la aferon al seka manĝaĵo, kiun ili neniam manĝas (tamen ili ja manĝas sekan krommanĝaĵon).... sed ĉiuokaze, mi ĝojas, ke Iggy verŝajne fartas bone nun. :) espereble la afero neniam denove okazos...!

this past Friday morning i woke up to find that Iggy had vomited on the floor downstairs. while cleaning it up i noticed that Iggy was acting strange; we kept going to the litter box literally every minute like clockwork. i followed him to the litter box a couple of times trying to get a glimpse of what was going on and saw that each time he urniated very small amounts of red urine. i also noticed that his unmentionable area was very wet and it was as if he couldn't hold his bladder... every time he sat somewhere he left small amounts of red urine. i immediately called the Cat Clinic and we brought him as soon as they had an opening. he ended up having to be left there so that they could do urine tests.

la pasintan vendredon mi vekiĝis kaj trovis, ke Iggy vomis sur la unua-etaĝan plankon. dum mi purigis la plankon, mi rimarkis, ke Iggy agis iom strange; kvazaŭ laŭ horoloĝo, li ripete iris al la necesejo ĉiuminute. mi sevis lin al la necesejo por rigardi kio okazas kaj vidis, ke ĉiufoje urinis tre malmulte da ruĝa urino. mi ankaŭ rimarkis, ke lia ne-menciebla-loko estis tre malseka kaj ŝajnis, ke li ne povis teni sian urinon en la kurpo ĉar kiam li sidiĝis, ĉiufoje restis malmulte da ruĝa urino. mi tuj telefonis al la Cat Clinic (kat-kuracejo) kaj tien ni portis lin kiel plej eble baldaŭ. fine ni devis lasi lin tie por ke ili povis ekzameni lian urinon.

several hours later that day we got a call to come pick him up. on the way it rained with the sun out in full force creating a beautiful double rainbow... a good sign for Iggy? Iggy had received a pain killer and seemed to be doing alright. the vet examination and urine tests ruled out that the possibility of infection or crystals in Iggy's urine. the fact that Iggy can still urinate normally suggests that there isn't a blockage, but there is still the possibility of bladder stones or something similar which would require an expensive ultrasound to determine. the vet said that it is very likely that Iggy may just have blood in his urine due to stress as this is supposedly very common among male cats (esp. those who eat dry food), but... what stress? nothing has changed in Iggy's environment, food, etc... eitherway, the vet's recommended course of action was to treat Iggy's inflamed bladder with anti-inflammatory medicine for the next week and see if he improves, which blood due to stress usually does. if he is still having problems after a week we will take him back for an ultrasound. in the meantime he would continue to have blood in his urine for a few days.

post pluraj horoj la kuracejo telefonis al ni por porti lin hejmen. laŭvoje estis pluvo malgraŭ tio, ke la suno forte brilis. pro tio, estis belega, duobla ĉielarko..... ĉu bona signo por Iggy? ili donis al Iggy kuracilon por plibonigi lian doloron kaj li ŝajnis farti bone. la fakto, ke Iggy ankoraŭ povis urini normale sugestis, ke ne estis ia baraĵo, sed ankoraŭ restas la ebleco por ŝtonoj en lia veziko aŭ io alia serioza malsano. por eltrovi ĉu estas vezikaj ŝtonoj ktp bezonas tre multekosta ultrasona ekzameno. la kat-kuracisto diris, ke eble Iggy havas  sangon en la urino pro streĉo ĉar verŝajne ofte okazas sango en la urino de virkatoj (precipe de tiuj, kiuj manĝas sekan manĝaĵon), kiuj estas streĉitaj, sed..... ĉu vere streĉo? lastatempe nenio ŝanĝis hejme, do vere ne estas io streĉiga.... ĉiuokaze, la kat-kuracisto rekomendis, ke ni unue traktu lian inflamigitan vezikon per anti-inflama kuracilo dum la sekvanta semajno kaj atente rigardu lian sanon. se post unu semajno li ne plibone fartas, tiam li havos ultrasonan ekzamenon. dumtempe, restos sango en lia urino dum kelkaj tagoj.

Iggy seems to be doing alright since then... he still goes to the litter box frequently, but not quite as frequently. he still has a lot of blood in his urine, but at least he seems to be going alright. he eats all of his food, although uncharacteristically slowly. this morning, however, he finished his breakfast but then threw it all up shortly after... i called the clinic and was advised to stop his medicine for 24hrs and monitor him. if all is well after that, start giving him the medicine again. i really hope he hasn't got bladder stones or anything serious, but it's hard to believe that this may have been caused by stress when he hasn't be stress lately and has handled even more stressful situations without this kind of problem. :( he is a very high-strung, anxious cat, though, so who knows... fingers crossed! i'll keep everyone updated on the situation.

ŝajnas, ke Iggy plibone fartas ekde tiam.... li ankoraŭ nekutime ofte iras al la necesejo, sed ne tiel ofte kiel antaŭe. ankoraŭ estas multe da sango en lia urino, sed almenaŭ li verŝajne povas urini senprobleme. li manĝas ĉiom da lia manĝaĵo, sed multoble pli malrapide ol kutime. tamen, ĉi-matene li vomis lian tutan matenmanĝaĵon  tre baldaŭ post li ĝin manĝis.... mi telefonis al la kat-kuracejo kaj ili diris, ke mi ne donu la kuracilon al li dum la sekvanta 24 horoj kaj atente rigardu lin. se post 24 horoj li plibone fartas, tiam mi ree komenci doni al li la kuracilon. mi kore esperas, ke li ne havas gravan malsanon, sed estas malfacile por mi kredi, ke la kial de la sango estas streĉo. kiel mi jam diris, estis nenion streĉiga lastatempe kaj kiam JA estis io streĉiga (ekzemple, transloĝiĝado) li traktis la situacion sen la nuna problemo. :( sed ja.... li ja estas tre nervozema kaj anksiema kato, do..... bv deziri al li bonŝancon! mi ĝisdatigos la blogon pri la situacio.

!!!! it's been a month since my last post! sorry... there really hasn't been much to post, aside from updates about Iggy's condition. he is doing better. :) we ended up having to give him cortisone tablets because his itching wasn't improving at all. he has been on them for a week now and is scratching/licking a lot less without any apparent sideeffects. :) the weather has been dreary 65% of the time and very hot 35% of the time, so they've just been sleeping the days away. nothing much to take photos of!

!!!! jam forpasis unu monato ĝis la lasta ĝisdatigo! pardonon.... vere nenio skribinda okazis krom la stato de la alergio de Iggy. li pli bone fartas nun. :) fine ni devis doni al li la kuracilon "cortisone" ĉar lia jukado tute ne pliboniĝis. dum la pasinta semajno li ĝin manĝis kaj nun li gratadas sin multe malpli ofte. verŝajne ĝis nun estis neniu kromefiko. :) lastatempe la vetero estis 65% pluvema kaj 35% varmega, do ili ĉiam fordormis la tutan tagon. estis nenio fotinda!

i have decided that i'm going to try something different. i'm no good at writing, which is what i think has been so hard about updating this blog. i never know what to say. so instead, i'm going to focus on photos. i will try to always include at least a word or two of narration to the photos, but yeah. photography is my thing, not writing. :) by the way, all of the photos in this post were taken with a 1972 camera with black & white film on the second-to-last day in our old home.

long time no see! sorry for being away from the blog for so long, we ended up being without the internet for almost 3 weeks. :( it's been so long since my last update that i honestly don't even know where to start with this post....

saluton ree! pardonon pro ne ĝisdatigi la blogon delonge. bezonis preskaŭ 3 semajnoj por la interreto esti instaligita ĉe la nova domo. :( jam forpasis tiel multe da tempo ĝis la lasta ĝisdatigo, ke mi eĉ ne scias pri kio mi ĝisdatigu nun......

scaredy Iggy / timema Iggy

the move went without incident. Fae handled everything really well and wanted free roam of the new house as soon as we let her out of her carrier, but we made her stay in a room with Iggy. Iggy, on the other hand, didn't take things so well at first. he seems to have separation/abandonment issues and always gets really nervous and withdrawn/depressed whenever he's taken somewhere.  :/ as soon as we let him out of his carrier into a room in the new house he burrowed his way in between two pillows on a bed and hide for hours. Fae was awesome and comforted him whenever she wasn't at the closed door screaming. D; once they were allowed to explore the house Iggy was up and running around as usual. i think once he realized that he wasn't being left somewhere he was fine. :) they settled into the new place within a day and it was as if we had never lived anywhere else!

la transloĝiĝado tute glate iris. Fae traktis la aferon tute bone kaj tuj volis libere esplori la nova domo kiam ni malfermis ŝian portilon (kaĝon), sed ni fermis ŝin kaj Iggy-n en unu ĉambro de la domo. aliaflanke, je la komenco Iggy ne tute bone traktis la aferon. ŝajnas, ke li havas grandan timon pri fordonado/forlasado ĉar ĉiam li fariĝas ege nervosa, tima kaj nerespondema kiam ni portas lin ien ajn. :/ kiam ni malfermis lian portilon en ĉambro ĉe la nova domo li tuj kaŝis sin inter la kusenoj sur lito. tie kaj tiel li restis dum kelkaj horoj. Fae estis bonega kaj komfortigis lin kiam ŝi ne estis laŭte krianta ĉe la fermita pordo de la ĉambro. :P kiam ni permesis, ke ili esploru la domon, Iggy feliĉiĝis kaj kuris ĉien kiel kutime. mi opinias, ke kiam li rimarkis, ke li ne estos fordonita/forlasita li tute feliĉiĝis. :) ne pasis 24h kaj ili jam tute alkutimiĝis al la nova domo. estis kvazaŭ ni eĉ ne loĝis aliloke antaŭe!

"Fae la Komfortisto"

Iggy has been to the vet twice over the past two weeks. his dermatitis had gotten pretty bad and he was scratching and licking himself until he had sores all over. :( on the first visit the vet agreed with us that it was probably an environmental or seasonal allergy and said that there was no way to really know for sure without an expensive allergy test that may or may not even been really conclusive. she said that Iggy's condition had gotten pretty serious and recommended that we try antibiotics and/or cortisone, but also noted that cortisone had side effects and that we might want to avoid it for now. Iggy was given an antibiotics injection that was suppose to last for 2 weeks and we brought him home. he seemed to be scratching/licking less for a day or two, but by day three he was just as itchy as before. :( we tried revealing his itchiness with a bath and i continued to put salmon (omega-3) oil into his food to help his skin.

Iggy vizitis la bestokuracejo jam du foje dum la pasintaj du semajnoj. lia "dermatitis" (malsano pri la haŭto) fariĝis tre malbona kaj li gratadis kaj lekis sin ĝis li havis vundojn preskaŭ ĉie. :( dum la unua vizito la bestokuracisto konsentis, ke li verŝajne havis alergion kontraŭ io en la biomedio aŭ laŭ la sezono, sed oni ne vere povas scii krom fari multekostan ekzamenon pri alergioj.... kaj eĉ tiu ekzameno eble ne vere klarigos kontraŭ kio li havas alergion. ŝi diris, ke la stato de la haŭto de Iggy ja estis tre malbona kaj rekomendis al ni antibiotikojn kaj/aŭ "cortisone" ("kortizonon"?). tamen, ŝi sciigis nin, ke "cortisone" havas kelkajn malbonajn kromefikojn kaj eble estus bone eviti tiun medicinon nuntempe. la bestkuracisto injektis la antibiotikon en Iggy-n kaj laŭ ŝi la antibiotiko daŭrus 2 semajnojn. dum unu aŭ du tagoj ŝajnis, ke Iggy malpli ofte gratis/lekis sin, sed post tri tagoj li jam gratis/lekis sin tiel ofte kiel antaŭe. :( ni provis mildigi la jukadon de lia haŭto per bano kaj mi daŭre donis al li oleon de salmo (= oleo Omeg-3) en lia manĝaĵo por helpi lian haŭton.

last tuesday when he went back to the vet he was seen by a different vet. she said that antibiotics really wasn't treating the problem at all and that Iggy's skin did look pretty bad. she too mentioned allergy testing but also recommended skin oil and cortisone. because we can't try both at the same time (because if something worked there would be no way of knowing which treatment worked), we decided that we would get both the skin oil and the cortisone but would try the oil first to try to avoid cortisone's side effects. we'll be keeping a close eye on Iggy and hope to see some improvement soon! we will also continue with his baths once a week and salmon (Omega-3) oil.

la pasintan mardon li ree vizitis la bestokuracejo sed al malsama bestokuracisto. ŝi diris, ke la antibiotikoj tute ne helpis la problemon kaj laŭ ŝi, la haŭto de Iggy ja estis tre malbona. ankaŭ ŝi rekomendis ekzamenon pri alergioj, sed ŝi ankaŭ rekomendis oleon por la haŭto kaj "cortisone". ĉar ni ne povas provi ambaŭ samtempe (ĉar se iu kuracado sukcese helpas la haŭton de Iggy oni ne povus scii, kiu kuracado ĝin helpis), ni decidis porti ambaŭ hejmen kaj unue provos la oleon por la haŭto. se eble, ni evitos la "cortisone" pro la kromefikoj. ni tre atente rigardos Iggy-n kaj esperas, ke baldaŭ ni vidos pliboniĝadon! ni daŭre banos lin po unu fojo semajne kaj daŭre donos al li oleon de salmo (Omega-3).

Happy Birthday to Iggy, the bestest mancat in the world!!! :D to celebrate, we had yummy food and a party with magpie feathers! it kind of got out of hand at one point...

Feliĉan Naskiĝtagon al Iggy, la plej bonega virkato en la mondo!!! :D por festi la tagon ni manĝis bongustan manĝaĵon kaj havis feston kun plumoj de pigoj! la festo fariĝis iome freneza post iom da tempo...

i think the party was a success in the end, though. :)

sed fine mi opinias, ke la festo estis sukcesa. :)

on a side note, because Iggy's skin condition (dermatitis according to the RSPCA) doesn't seem to be improving, we've decided to take Iggy to the vet as soon as we get a chance. i will post updates about the move and the vet visit when we get internet set up at our new place in a week or so! cya!

itchy moving / juka transloĝiĝado

it's been a while since i've updated this blog properly, sorry AGAIN! things were really up and down for a while, but things seem to be improving now. i want to start 2012 off on the right foot!

jam pasis iom da tempo ĝis kiam mi ĝuste ĝisdatigis ĉi tiun blogon, pardonon DENOVE! la pasintajn kelkajn semajnojn mi estis iom malfeliĉa pro diversaj aferoj, sed nun tiuj aferoj verŝajne pliboniĝas iom post iom. mi volas komenci la novan jaron bone!

for the past couple of weeks (month?) Iggy has gotten bumps all over his head & neck and in other places around his body. he's been scratching and licking himself a lot.... at first i thought the bumps were just from his playfights with Fae, but it soon became apparent that they're a reaction to something. you may remember that Iggy was surrendered by his previous owner due to a supposed allergy to another cat... well i'm certain that this is that same "allergy", but it's obviously not to another cat and i can't think of any foodstuff that could have triggered it.... we now think it might be an environmental allergy or seasonal skin condition. on Tuesday we gave both Iggy & Fae a bath in special shampoo that's suppose to sooth itchy/irritated skin and it seems to have helped a lot, although only temporarily. perhaps we will have to give Iggy a bath on a weekly basis in the summer?

dum la pasintaj kelkaj semanoj (aŭ monato?) Iggy havas multe da etaj ŝvelaĵoj ĉie sur la kapo, kolo kaj sur aliaj lokoj sur la korpo. li ofte sin gratas kaj lekas..... unue mi pensis, ke la ŝveltaĵoj estis pro lud-batelado kun Fae, sed baldaŭ estis klare, ke la ŝveltaĵoj estis okazigiaj de ia alergio. eble vi memoras, ke la antaŭa posedanto de Iggy fordonis Iggy-n pro "algerio kontraŭ alia kato"..... nu, mi certas, ke la nuna alergio estas la sama "alergio", sed kompreneble la alergio ne estas kontraŭ alia kato. tamen, mi ankaŭ kredas, ke la alergio ne estas kontraŭ iu manĝaĵo.... mi nun pensas, ke eble la alergio rilatas al la medio (vetero, sezono, floroj, ktp). marde ni banis kaj Iggy kaj Fae per speciala ŝampuo, kiu helpas trankviligi jukan haŭton kaj ŝajnas, ke la ŝampuo multe helpis Iggy-n, almenaŭ dum iom da tempo. eble ni devos bani Iggy-n ĉiusemajne en somero?

meanwhile, the real estate drama that i've mentioned in previous posts has (hopefully) come to a conclusion! in 3 weeks we will be moving! while i've had cats in the past, i have no experience moving house with cats... does anyone have any tips on minimizing the stress this will cause on Fae & Iggy? the place that we will be moving into will be much bigger than our current place... i'm thinking that Fae & Iggy should be confined to a room for a little while before being allowed free run of the place....? hmm..... any ideas/tips/advice is very much welcome!

dumtempe, la dramo pri la loĝejo, pri kiu mi menciis en antaŭaj blogaĵoj, (espereble) nun finiĝas! post 3 semajnoj ni transloĝiĝos! antaŭe mi havis katojn, sed neniam antaŭe mi transloĝiĝis kune kun katoj.... ĉu iu havas iun ajn sugestojn/konsilojn pri kiel ne streĉigi la katojn dum transloĝiĝado? la nova loĝejo estas multe pli granda ol la nuna loĝejo.... mi pensas, ke Fae k Iggy estu fermitaj en unu ĉambro dum iom da tempo antaŭ ol ili povas esplori la tutan loĝejon...? hmm.... ĉiuj ideoj/sugestoj/konsiloj estas bonvenaj kaj aprezitaj!

anyway, possible lack of internet access in the coming weeks aside, i hope to post a lot more regularly in 2012! going to try my best...!

thoughts on kibble / pensoj pri manĝaĵo

i've been thinking. why do people feed their pets kibble?

kibble is basically astronaut food. seriously, think about it. what is astronaut food? scientifically formulated "food" that is designed to have "everything" you need and pretty much nothing else. it's extremely processed, dry and is made to taste like stuff that hardly resembles what it orignally may have been. what is kibble? the same thing.

to me, feeding your pets kibble is like feeding your children (or yourself) astronaut food. all the time. seriously. would YOU want to live off little pellets that have "everything" you need? would you feed your children that? so why do people feed their beloved four-legged friends that???

because it's "easier" on the wallet? more convenient? because your vet recommended it? in case you didn't know, vets get paid to recommend it and vets are NOT dietitians or nutritionists any more than general practitioners are.

i'm seriously thinking about making a page on this blog dedicated to raw food for cats and i think i will use the above as the openning to it. i am no expert when it comes to diets or nutrition for cats, of course. the page would just be a place for me to voice my opinions, show how/what i feed my cats and provide links to further information on the topic. it might take me a while to compile everything i'd need for such a page, but i think i'll try.

"manĝaĵo" scienco-bazita por enhavi "ĉion", kiun oni bezonas kaj apenaŭ ion ajn alian. ĝi estas multege procedita,sekigita kaj estas dizajnita por gusti simila al la manĝaĵo de kiu ĝi eble devenis sed al kiu ĝi tute ne plu vere rilatas. kio estas seka manĝaĵo por bestoj? la sama aĵo.

miaopinie, donadi al la dormbestoj sekan manĝaĵon estas kvazaŭ donadi al la geinfanoj (aŭ al vi mem) manĝaĵon por kosmonaŭtoj. notu la -ad-n. serioze. ĉu VI volus manĝi ĉiutage malgrandajn sekajn bulojn, kiuj enhavas "ĉion", kiun vi bezonas? ĉu vi donus al la infanoj tion? kial do homoj donadas tion al siaj amataj kvar-piedaj amikoj???

ĉu ĉar tio estas "pli facila"? aŭ pli oportuna? ĉu ĉar la bestkuracisto rekomendis ĝin? parenteze, se i ne jam scias, bestkuracistoj gajnas monon por rekomendi ĝin kaj ili NE estas spertuloj pri nutraĵo same kiel ĝeneralaj doktoroj ne estas.

pensu pri tio, mi petas.

mi serioze pensadas pri fari paĝeton en ĉi tiu blogo pri kurda manĝaĵo por katoj kaj mi pensas, ke mi uzos la supran tekston kiel la komencaĵo. kompreneble, mi ne estas spertulo pri nutraĵo por katoj. la paĝeto simple estus ejo, kie mi povus disdoni miajn opiniojn, montri kiel/kion mi donas al miaj katoj kaj disponigi ligliojn al pluaj informoj pri la afero. eble mi bezonos multe da tempo por kompili ĉion, kio estas necesa por tia paĝeto, sed mi pensas, ke mi provos tion fari.

upon returning to Brisbane on July 22nd we went (on very little sleep!) to go pick up the cats. to our relief, they were fine and very glad to see us. silly me was worried that they may have started to forget us or that they'd be really mad at us! but no, we were immediately greeted with loud purrs and lots of love. :) according to the people at the cattery, they settled in quickly and had been fine the whole time.

post nia reveno al Brisbano je la 22a de julio ni lacege veturis al kat-hotelo por hejmenporti la katojn. ni ege ege trankviliĝis kiam mi eksciis, ke ĉio estis bona dum nia vojaĝo kaj ili estis tre feliĉaj pro nin vidi. kiel stultulo, mi pensadis, ke eble ili forgesus nin aŭ ke ili estus ege koleraj al ni! sed ne, ili senhezite nin salutis per laŭtaj ronronoj kaj multe da amo. :) laŭ la homoj ĉe la kat-hotelo, ili rapide alkutimiĝis al ilia ĉambro kaj fartis bone ĉiam.

"must....DRY...!!!" / "devas.... SEKIGI....!!!"

once we got back home it was almost as if they'd never left. while we humans tried to nap, Fae & Iggy ran around like lunatics. maybe it was the excitement of being home? once we gave up sleeping we gave them both baths as they were both absolutely filthy. Iggy handled his first bath (with us) very well. :)

kiam mi revenis hejme estis subite kvazaŭ ili neniam foriris. dum ni homoj provadis dormeti, Fae k Iggy kuradaĉis tra la tuta apartamento kvazaŭ frenezuloj. eble pro la ekscitiĝo de reveni hejme? kiam ni rezignis niajn dormetojn, ni banis ilin ĉar ili ambaŭ estis terurege malpuregaj. Iggy kondutis tre bone dum lia unua bano (kun ni). :)

wanting to go outside / deziras ekstereniri

i've noticed some changes in them since they've been back. for one, they have a new found love of being outside, especially Iggy. i feel bad that all we have is a balcony here since they obviously loved the outdoor enclosure/garden. :( also, their fights have become a lot rougher. don't get me wrong, they're still not out to hurt each other, but if looks could kill they'd have killed each other by now. also, Iggy has become a pro at bodyslamming poor Fae! BUT at the same time they are still very affectionate towards each other and Iggy has even started to reciprocate Fae's cleaning! :D

mi rimarkis kelkajn ŝanĝojn en ili ekde kiam ili revenis hejme. ekzemple, ili nun havas novan pli grandan amon pri esti ekstere, precipe Iggy. mi ege malĝojas, ke ĉe nia apartamento estas nur balkono ĉar evidente ili tute amis la fermigitan ĝardenon. :( plue, iliaj bataloj fariĝis multe pli malmildaj. bv ne miskompreni min, ili ankoraŭ ne deziras dolorigi unu la alian, sed se mienoj povus mortigi ion, ili jam delonge mortigus unu la alian. kaj verŝajne Iggy fariĝis spertulo pri venki kompatindan Fae-n! SED samtempe ili ankoraŭ estas tre amikema al unu la alia kaj nun Iggy eĉ reciproke purigas Fae-n! :D

last but not least, after the initial "OMG YAY I'M HOME!!", Fae acted rather strangely which made us worry about her. she lacked her usual enthusiasm about food-- something that's strikingly noticeable as she usually has so much of it-- and she was acting rather sluggish and lethargic. even though i transitioned them back to a raw diet slowly, when given food of any kind she often barely ate without lots of encouragement. much of her first week back she spent sleeping and wouldn't even play with her favorite balls. :/ it should also be noted that she gained weight while away and had a sore on her neck where she probably scratched herself raw from anxiety. it took a week+ for the Fae that we know and love to return to her normal energetic, food-loving self, but now she's back and hopefully here to stay!

kaj ankoraŭ unu ekzemplo: post la komenca "HMD MI ESTAS HEJME JEJ!!", Fae kondutis iom strange kaj ni ege zorgis pri ŝi. mankis al ŝi ŝia kutima "fajro" (entuziasmo) pri manĝaĵo-- kiu estis ege rimarkenda ĉar kutime ŝi havas tiel multe da ĝi-- kaj ŝi ŝajnis tute senenergia kaj letargia. malgraŭ tio, ke mi tre malrapide ŝanĝis ilian manĝaĵon ree al kruda manĝaĵo, ofte ŝi preskaŭ nenion manĝis krom se ni multe kuraĝigis ŝin. dum la plejparto de ŝia unua semajno hejme ŝi dormadis kaj eĉ ne volis ludi per ŝiaj plej ŝatataj pilkoj. :/ plue mi ankaŭ diru, ke ŝi plipeziĝis dum ŝia restado ĉe la kat-hotelo kaj sur ŝia kolo estis vundo, kie ŝi verŝajne tro ofte/multe sin gratadis pro anksio. bezonis pli ol unu semajno por ke Fae refariĝi energia kaj manĝegema kiel kutime, sed nun ŝi denove fartas bone kaj espereble ĉiam estos tiel!

antaŭ kelkaj tagoj mi ricevis la premion "La Tre Ege Dolĉa Blog-Premio" de mia amiko Bryan ĉe Bryan's Cats (angle)! se vi ankoraŭ ne konas lian blogon, ĝi temas pri zorgado pri liaj 5 katoj kaj ankaŭ la katoj en lia najbaro. estas mirindege, ke unu homo povas zorgadi pri tiom multe da katoj kaj la blogo mem estas tre interesa. se vi ankoraŭ ne vizitis la blogon, bonvolu viziti. :)

as part of the award, i'll share 7 (possibly) unknown facts + random photos with you! i will be focusing on Iggy and Iggy + Fae facts since not a lot has been shared about Iggy yet. also, i'm suppose to pass this award on to 15 people but i think 15 is an insane number, especially since i still don't know many people. i will instead pass it on to 5 (sorry!).

another lesson learned / ankoraŭ unu lernita leciono

Fae finally did it! as an ice breaker Fae slowly went up to him, settled down and proceeded to try to clean him but Iggy wasn't having that... WHY?? men.... *shakes head* after several tries and several nips + glares from Iggy she finally just curled up and went to sleep. thankfully Iggy at least allowed that. hmph!

finfine Fae ĝin faris! unue Fae malrapide alproksimiĝis al li, kuŝis apud li kaj komencis purigi lin, sed tio ne plaĉis al Iggy..... KIAL?? viroj.... *malaprobante kapneas* post kelkaj provoj kaj kelkaj mordetoj + malafabla rigardado de Iggy, ŝi finfine ĉesis purigi lin kaj endormiĝis. dankinde almenaŭ tion Iggy permesis. hmph!

on a much more serious note, last night we had a really big scare. Iggy and Fae were chasing each other back and forth all over the place as usual and somehow Fae got her head caught in one of the blind cords.... i heard weird noises and ran to see what happened and found Fae frantically gasping & kicking while hanging from the cord by her head... her feet couldn't reach the ground. if neither of us had heard her or if this had happened while we weren't home..................... let this be a lesson to all with cats and blinds or dangling cords of any kind. such cords can be deadly.

kaj multoble pli serioze, la pasintan nokton okazis grandega teruro ĉe ni. kiel kutime Iggy kaj Fae ĉaskuradis unu la alian tra la tuta apartamento kaj iele la kapo de Fae kaptiĝis per krodo de ĵaluzio..... mi aŭdis strangajn sonojn kaj kuris por vidi kio okazis. mi trovis Fae, kiu panikante spiraĉadis kaj piedbatadis la aeron dum ŝi pendis sur kordo per la kapo... ŝia piedoj ne povis atingi la plankon. se ni ne aŭdis ŝin aŭ se tio okazis, kiam ni ne hejme estis.......................... ĉi tio estu leciono por ĉiuj, kiuj havas katojn kaj ĵaluzioj aŭ aliaj pendantaj kordoj. tiaj kordoj povas esti mortigaj.

thanks for all of the nice comments, everyone. :) things are going well in the Apartment Of Fae! so well that i've caught Fae cleaning Iggy on more than one occasion. when she did it yesterday Iggy moved away (how rude!) but today he let her! :D GO FAE! she also seems to be trying to get up the courage to sleep next to him but hasn't quite gotten that far yet.

dankon al ĉiuj pro viaj afablaj komentoj. :) ĉio estas bona ĉe la Apartamento De Fae! tiel bona, ke mi eĉ rimarkis, ke dufoje Fae purigis Iggy-on. la unuafoje (hieraŭ) kiam Fae tion faris, Iggy movis for de ŝi (terure malafable!), sed hodiaŭ li permesis, ke ŝi tion fari! JEJ FAE! ankaŭ ŝajnas al mi, ke ŝi provas kuraĝiĝi por dormi apud li, sed ŝi ankoraŭ ne sukcesis.

Iggy's first vet visit went better than expected yesterday. at first he panicked a bit in the carrier but not as bad as he panicked the day we brought him home. once we got there he handled being seen by the vet very well! he didn't even flinch while getting his temperature taken. :) the vet said he was in good health and even his skin was great! she was skeptical about him having an allergy to other cats, that his allergy was probably triggered by something else. we will have to keep a very close eye on him. she also said it was best to not treat him for the cat flu yet as his symptoms are still minor. hopefully his immune system can fight it off on its own and get stronger from it. we'll be taking him back to the vet at the end of the month for his second round of vaccinations.

hieraŭ la unua vizito al bestkuracejo por Iggy iras pli bone ol ni antaŭpensis. unue li iome panikis en la bestportilo, sed ne tiel multe kiel kiam ni unue hejmen portis lin. kiam ni alvenis li kondukis tute bone kun la bestkuracisto! li eĉ ne movis kiam la bestkuracisto lian temperaturon kontrolis. :) la bestkuracisto diris, ke li estas bonsana kaj eĉ lia haŭto estas bonega! ŝi tute ne kredas, ke li vere havas alergion kontraŭ aliaj katoj. ŝi opinias, ke lia alergio estas kontraŭ ion alian kaj ni devos atente rigardi lin. ŝi ankaŭ diris, ke estus plej bone ne doni al li medikamenton ĉar liaj nunaj simptomoj estas ankoraŭ ne tre gravaj kaj espereble lia korpo mem povos sukcese batali la malsanon kaj pro tio fariĝos pli forta kontraŭ la malsano. ni denove portos lin beskuracejen je la fino de la monato por ricevi duan aron da vakcinado.

today Iggy & Fae spent the day sleeping in blankets around the heater and with good reason! it's been the coldest day on record since 2000! brrrr..... i wish i could have stayed home and slept it off. ;( i'm really enjoying having two cats again. having just Fae was awesome, don't get me wrong, but there's something i've missed about having two cats. it's really nice to have two again. :)

hodiaŭ Iggy k Fae forpasis la tutan tagon dormantaj en tapiŝoj ĉirkaŭ la varmigilo. hodiaŭ estis la plej malvarma tago ĝis 2000! brrrrr..... mi deziras, ke ankaŭ mi povus resti hejme kaj dormi tuttage. :'( mi tre ĝuas havi denove du katojn. havi nur Fae estis bonege, certe! tamen, mi sentis la mankon de io kiam mi havis nur unu katon. havi denove du katojn estas ege bonege. :)
